Power restored to 2,200 customers in L.A.’s Fairfax district

Share

Power was restored to all 2,200 customers in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles who had gone without it overnight until as late as Monday afternoon, officials said.

The power outage was caused by Mylar balloons, which made contact with wires at Santa Monica Boulevard and Cole Street, blowing a conductor and causing wires to go down at a second location, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

DWP officials said two sets of wires were down at two separate locations. Power was restored to customers throughout the day, finishing around 1:30 p.m.
