Woman arrested on suspicion of stealing from rapper DMX says she was assaulted
A woman arrested on suspicion of stealing celebrity rapper DMX’s watch and money has accused him of sexually assaulting her, according to Costa Mesa police.
The 25-year-old Hawthorne resident told police that Earl Simmons, known as DMX, sexually assaulted her before police arrived at about 7 a.m. Saturday at the Ayres Hotel and Suites on Bristol Street in Costa Mesa.
Police said they are investigating the allegations, but have not arrested Simmons, 45, of Arizona. After speaking with the woman, police arrested her on suspicion of grand theft. She has since posted bail and been released from custody, according to police.
Police were first informed of an altercation between a man and woman at the hotel on Saturday morning.
