Deputy-involved shooting in Van Nuys sends suspect to hospital
One suspect was taken to a hospital after a deputy-involved shooting Wednesday in Van Nuys, authorities said.
Few details were immediately available about the incident, which occurred about 11:55 a.m. in the 5800 of Allott Avenue, said Deputy Aura Sierra of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Bureau were conducting surveillance, she said, but it was not clear what prompted the shooting.
One suspect was shot and another taken into custody, Sierra said. No deputies were injured.
The suspect’s condition was not immediately known. Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main confirmed paramedics took one person to an area hospital, but had no further details.
Los Angeles police also responded to the incident.
