Three traffic crashes leave three people dead, police say

Three traffic accidents -- two Monday morning and one Sunday night -- left three people dead and others injured in neighborhoods across L.A. County.
In Lancaster on Sunday night, a woman driving near Avenue I and Beech Avenue drifted across the traffic lanes and crashed into a power pole just before 10 p.m.
The female driver was pronounced dead at a hospital and a passenger in the car was injured, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
An early morning accident in Hollywood also left one person dead and another injured.
Lt. Theodore Edwards of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division said a driver traveling south on La Brea Avenue near Sunset Boulevard lost control at 2:45 a.m. and crashed into a parked vehicle.
The car then “began to spin” and hit a parked taxi cab, Edwards said.
The car then “moved onto the sidewalk and collided with a pedestrian, the driver of the taxi cab,” he said.
The driver of the car died and the driver of the taxi cab was injured, “but is in stable condition,” Edwards said.
A little more than three hours later, a motorcyclist in Boyle Heights died after a hit-and-run accident just before 6 a.m., according to the LAPD.
The motorcyclist was heading south on Soto Street near Lancaster Avenue when he collided with a car. The driver of the car took off immediately, the LAPD said, and has not been found.
The 55-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
None of the victims in the crashes were immediately identified.
