A 29-year-old woman was bent on committing suicide when she drove her speeding pickup truck into another truck traveling in the opposite direction, the San Diego County medical examiner has concluded.
Trista Lynn Stier and the driver of the other truck, Douglas Menegos, 49, were both killed in the crash that occurred Friday afternoon on State Route 67 near Lakeside in eastern San Diego County.
The California Highway Patrol said Stier sped past several vehicles traveling in the same direction before crashing head-on into Menegos’ truck.
The medical examiner’s conclusion involved a physical examination of the bodies and interviews with witnesses and relatives.
