Man gets 66 years in prison for alcohol sex attacks

A 33-year-old Corona man was sentenced Friday to 66 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting five women -- two of them minors -- after plying them with alcohol.

In August, an Orange County jury found Max Danilo Martinez guilty of multiple felony counts related to the assaults. DNA and follow-up investigations linked him to attacks that dated back to 2000.

In May 2000, Martinez picked up a 14-year-old girl and her friend from The Outlets at Orange after offering them a ride. He bought the pair alcohol and took them to his apartment, where he raped the 14 year old.

Martinez also raped an 18-year-old female coworker in 2002 after buying her alcohol and meeting up with her at a motel room. The victim worked with him at Westminster Mall, where he managed a store.

He was also found guilty of picking up an 18-year-old girl from a restaurant where she worked in 2005 and assaulting her at a motel in Orange.

In 2008 he offered a 17-year-old girl a ride to her Corona home. Martinez bought the girl alcohol and raped her in his car after she passed out.

He was arrested after raping a 24-year-old woman he picked up in 2009 as she was walking home. Martinez drove to a liquor store and gave her alcohol. When she became sick, her took her to the back of his van and raped her.

A jury found him guilty of three felony counts of forcible rape, one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force and one felony count of rape of an unconscious person. They also found Martinez guilty of sentencing enhancement allegations for sexual crimes against multiple victims.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict for accusations from a sixth woman who alleged that she was also attacked.
