Second mistrial for O.C. hockey mom accused of sexual assault

Jurors are deadlocked for the second time in the case of a 45-year-old hockey mom accused of sexually assaulting her son’s 13-year-old friend.

Kathia Maria Davis was convicted last year of four felonies in the sexual assault of another boy who was 16 at the time.

Davis could get five years in prison for the previous convictions.

During the trial, prosecutors said Davis gave the two teenagers alcohol and then engaged them in sexual acts, in some cases with her children still in the house.

Both boys were associated with the Beach City Lightning hockey team, which plays in Anaheim and Laguna Niguel.

But Davis’ attorney said the divorced mother of three rebuffed the advances of a 13-year-old who came on to her and believed the other boy was 18 like her son when they had consensual sex.

The investigation began when the 16-year-old told his mother, who in turn contacted authorities, Orange County sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said.

“We received complaints that she was throwing parties for members of the hockey team and other friends of her son and providing them with alcohol,” Amormino said.

Davis was accused of having sex with the 16-year-old four times at her home in her bedroom between July 1, 2010, and July 31, 2011, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors alleged that on some of those occasions, two of her children were present in the house.

During the course of the investigation, the 13-year-old came forward.

Davis is also accused of giving the 13-year-old boy alcohol and fondling him during a sleepover at her home.
