Pittsburgh student, 16, faces charges in high school shooting
PITTSBURGH — A 16-year-old Pittsburgh high school student faced charges Wednesday night related to the shooting of three students earlier in the day. Police said the incident was retaliation for a beating he suffered in a drug-related robbery at the school last month.
The teenager, whom The Times is not identifying because of his age, awaited arraignment late Wednesday on four counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He was also to be charged with illegally possessing a gun as a juvenile.
Police Lt. Kevin Kraus says the boy wounded three students and shot at a fourth as they were headed to a car to drive home from classes at Brashear High School on Wednesday afternoon.
Kraus says school police investigated the Oct. 18 robbery but couldn’t file charges because the teen wouldn’t identify his attackers, telling police he wished to settle matters himself.
