Joel Pett is the Pulitizer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist of the Lexington Herald-Leader. His work also appears in USA Today.

Ah, awards time, the Golden Globe … the People’s Choice … the Oscar! Cartoonists are always eager to make mundane topics fascinating, so why not use the big-screen imagery Americans line up to see? Why not roll out the red carpet to take a punch at red ink? Is it such a flight of fancy to cast a president who went to war over biological weapons as a bacteriophobe aviator?
