Adjustments made to trial trolley service

Laguna Beach’s neighborhood trolleys will run an hour later on Fridays and Saturdays and begin service earlier on weekends through the rest of the summer, the city said in a news release last week.
The expanded service, which began Friday and is free for riders, will operate from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Fridays; 9 a.m. to midnight Saturdays; and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through the Top of the World, Bluebird Canyon and Arch Beach Heights neighborhoods.
“We adjusted the evening end times on Saturday and Sundays to allow ample time for residents to attend the Pageant of the Masters,” the city’s public works director, Shohreh Dupuis, wrote in an email. “We also adjusted the Saturday morning and Sunday morning start time to allow more time for shopping and dining.”

Trolleys start a half-hour earlier on Saturdays and two hours earlier Sundays. The Monday-through-Thursday schedule — 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. — will not change.
Trolleys run every 30 minutes with fixed stops, but people can also flag them down to catch a ride.
Residents can download the free Visit Laguna Beach mobile phone app to see when trolleys will be making stops. The neighborhood service, which is being offered on a trial basis and is separate from the regular trolley runs, ends Sept. 5.
