The Make-A-Wish clubs at Marina and Los Alamitos high schools collected more than 1,000 letters to Santa Claus at the schools’ football game Friday night to help kick off Macy’s Believe campaign to benefit Make-A-Wish, which works to grant wishes of children who have serious medical conditions.

The Believe campaign, which runs through Dec. 24, encourages people to send stamped letters to Santa via Macy’s stores or online at macys.com/believe. For each letter received, Macy’s pledges to donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million.

“We believe that it’s really important to teach our kids to give back to the community, and it helps them grow as individuals,” Jessie Marion, principal of Marina High in Huntington Beach, said in a statement. “It was incredible to see students from Marina and Los Alamitos come together to support Make-A-Wish.”
