Two arrested after convenience store robbery in Fountain Valley

Police quickly apprehended two men suspected of robbing a Fountain Valley 7-Eleven at gunpoint Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Fountain Valley police said a white Honda Civic pulled up to the convenience store at 9475 Warner Avenue around 10:16 a.m., and a passenger went into the store, showed the clerk a handgun and demanded cash.

After collecting the money, the passenger got back into the car, which took off on Warner Avenue approaching an onramp for the northbound 405 Freeway, police said in a news release.

Authorities quickly broadcast a description of the crime and car countywide. After hearing the bulletin, a CHP officer stopped a white Honda Civic on the northbound 405 in Long Beach, police said.

Investigators found evidence from the robbery, prompting them to arrest the driver and a 17-year-old passenger on suspicion of robbery, according to the news release.

Police identified the driver as Hector Ventura-Lopez, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles. Police did not release the 17-year-old’s name but said he too lives in Los Angeles.
