The Padres have Yasiel Puig all figured out!

At least right-hander Jason Marquis has. At least for one at-bat.

Puig, the Cuban defector who ignited Dodger Stadium the past two nights, had his first at-bat Wednesday ... and grounded out.

He showed bunt on the first pitch Marquis delivered, took a ball on his second, and then on the third consecutive sinker, bounced out to third baseman Chase Headley.

He sprinted all the way, not that it was a close play. But he continued to operate at full speed, which at least is something.

He did muff a Yasmani Grandal single, briefly overrunning the hit. Grandal was not able to advance so there was no error, but there was also no chance of seeing Puig attempt to throw out runner Jesus Guzman, who looked like he was running scared.

If the Dodgers win tonight, they will get out of the cellar for the first time since May 5.
