Boys’ basketball: LiAngelo Ball settles for 49 points for unbeaten Chino Hills

After scoring 60 points last week, LiAngelo Ball of unbeaten Chino Hills settled for 49 points on Tuesday night to help the Huskies improve to 21-0 and win their 56th consecutive game with a 122-74 victory over Rancho Cucamonga in a Baseline League game.

Ball played three quarters. LaMelo Ball finished with 23 points and El Scott 20.

Next up is a Friday game against Damien, which defeated Etiwanda, 73-63. Justin Hemsley had 22 points and 11 rebounds. Cameron Shelton added 20 points and Elijah McCullough 16.

In the Foothill League, Austin Galuppo scored 51 points in West Ranch’s 73-58 win over Golden Valley. He made nine threes. Saugus defeated Canyon, 69-47. Zach Phipps scored 22 points and Anthony McIntyre 16. Hart defeated Valencia, 64-57. There’s a five-way tie for first place, all with 3-2 records: Hart, Saugus, Golden Valley, West Ranch and Valencia.

In the Big VIII League, Corona Centennial defeated King, 65-49. Jalen Hill finished with 19 points, Gio Nelson 15 and Isom Butler 14. Roosevelt improved to 5-0 with a 72-36 win over Norco. Matt Mitchell had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Centennial plays at Roosevelt on Thursday to decide the league championship.

In the Gold Coast League, Sierra Canyon defeated Campbell Hall, 104-72. Marvin Bagley III had 27 points and Cody Riley 18. Windward defeaed McAuliffe, 82-37. Jules Bernard had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Viewpoint defeated Brentwood, 59-52. Sophomore Khair Jackson had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Esperanza improved to 20-1 with a 74-46 win over Yorba Linda. KZ Okpala set a school record with 45 points.

Heritage Christian defeated Renaissance, 83-67. Juhwan Harris-Dyson had 22 points.

Rolling Hills Prep defeated Lennox, 91-13. Alex Garcia scored 27 points and Chris Koon 24.

Rancho Mirage defeated Twentynine Palms, 81-66. Charles Neal had 32 points. Rancho Mirage is 5-0 in the De Anza League.

Kevin Kobrine scored 24 points in Corona del Mar’s 59-52 win over Northwood.

Maranatha continued its strong late-season surge with a 77-47 win over Village Christian. Chris Austin scored 20 points for Maranatha. Jordan Starr led Village Christian with 20 points.

Redondo received 20 points from Ryse Williams in a 68-54 win over Mira Costa.

Jason Meraban made a three-point basket at the buzzer to give Beverly Hills a 50-47 upset win over Crossroads in a nonleague game. Here’s the link to video of the shot.

Flintridge Prep defeated Firebaugh, 68-55. Jonathan Le had 20 points.

Adam Hess scored 23 points in Westlake’s 69-58 overtime win over Oaks Christian.

Peninsula knocked off Palos Verdes, 60-46. Nick Frasso scored 20 points and Wony’a Singleton added 18.

In the Golden League, Highland defeated Lancaster, 67-30. Justen Miller scored 20 points.
