Boys’ basketball: Max Heidegger scores 34 points in Crespi victory

Crespi won the San Fernando Valley Invitational, defeating Alemany, 70-58. Sophomore Max Heidegger scored 34 points and was named MVP.

In the Santa Monica tournament, Max Hazzard had 20 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright was tournament MVP as Loyola defeated Chaminade, 80-60. Stone Getting made five threes and Khalil Bedart-Ghani had 17 points.

Brentwood defeated Inglewood, 70-64, in two overtimes. Tra Holder scored 25 points and Yonathan Napoleon had 16. Fairfax defeated Santa Monica, 68-60, for third place. Sophomore Antoine Monroe had 20 points and Sage Woodruff 17. Jonah Mathews had 23 points for Santa Monica.

At Maranatha, Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated Chino Hills, 63-54, in the championship game. Gligorije Rakocevic had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Joey Covarubias contributed 21 points, six assists and was named tournament MVP.

In the Westchester tournament, Bishop Montgomery rallied for a 71-68 win over Westchester in the championship game. Justin Bibbins scored 28 points and was named tournament MVP.

In the Ocean View tournament, Compton defeated El Toro, 70-63. Isaiah Bailey scored 22 points and Kyron Cartwright was tournament MVP.

In the Simi Valley tournament, Chatsworth Sierra Canyon (4-0) won the championship with a 73-63 win over Santa Barbara. Freshman Cody Riley had 17 points and was named tournament MVP.

Stanley Johnson finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds and was tournament MVP in leading Mater Dei (4-0) to a 78-49 win over Temecula Valley in the championship game of the Mission Viejo tournament. La’Vette Parker added 14 points, including four threes. M.J. Cage had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Justin Simon scored 18 for Temecula Valley.

At Westchester in consolation games, Hart defeated Taft, 62-46. Gardena Serra defeated El Camino Real, 76-64. Julian Richardson led El Camino Real with 19 points and Kelton Conway had 18.

Westlake defeated Saugus, 60-55. Marcos Soto had 17 points and Jeremiah Gray 16 points. Royal defeated Kennedy, 75-45. Nick Brandon finished with 16 points. Canyon defeated Crescenta Valley, 62-60, for third place.

In the Rose City governor’s bracket, Sun Valley Poly defeated Rancho Dominguez, 50-46. Cesar Reyes was tournament MVP.

Buckley won the Vaughn tournament to improve to 7-0. Chase Holiday was named tournament MVP.

Rancho Cucamonga defeated Valley View, 92-62. Daylan Lawrence had 25 points.
