Football notes: Who’s No. 2 in City Section Division I?

Narbonne is 7-0 and rolling to a likely No. 1 seed in the City Section Division I playoffs, but who’s No. 2?

According to the MaxPreps Division I rankings, Dorsey is No. 2, followed by San Pedro and Banning.

That means Saturday at the Coliseum will be a big day for rankings, because Dorsey is playing Crenshaw at 10 a.m. followed by San Pedro facing Banning at 1:30 p.m. San Pedro is unbeaten since a season-opening loss to Downey. Banning is 7-0.

Mr. Versatility: Mike Martin III had quite an individual performance last week for Reseda in a win over Kennedy. He had two touchdowns rushing, passed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass. He gained over 100 yards rushing.

Martin’s father, Mike Jr., played for Reseda on former Coach Joel Schaeffer’s 1995 City 3-A championship team.

Paramount ends streak: Paramount’s 19-17 win over Dominguez last week was the first time the team has beaten Dominguez in 18 years.

TV and web schedule: The Mater Dei-St. John Bosco game on Friday will be televised on Fox Sports West.

Games on Prep Zone are Cathedral-Salesian, Calabasas-Newbury Park, La Habra-Buena Park and Mammoth-Boron.

Spectrum, formerly Time Warner Cable, will televise Saturday’s doubleheader at the Coliseum matching Dorsey-Crenshaw and Banning-San Pedro.

Unbeaten Grant: Grant has a bye this week after starting the season 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the East Valley League.

Quarterback Cameron Perry has passed for 1,673 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushed for 493 yards and six touchdowns.
