Football: Passing tournaments at Rio Mesa, Mountain View, Warren on Saturday

Summer passing competitions move into high gear on Saturday, with tournaments at Rio Mesa, El Monte Mountain View and Warren.

Newbury Park, led by quarterback Cameron Rising, will make its summer debut in the Ventura County championships at Rio Mesa.

Oaks Christian is sending its “A” team to Mountain View, where Garfield, Los Altos, Crespi and Crescenta Valley also will be competing.

Warren has a lineman competition this weekend, plus a seven on seven tournament.

There’s also a tournament at Franklin High that includes Birmingham, South Gate, Carson, Hawkins, Banning, Arleta and Lincoln.

Next weekend is the Saugus tournament at Central Park. Then comes the Conejo Valley tournament on June 18 and the Bonita tournament at the end of the month.
