Galaxy to play expansion Timbers at Portland
GALAXY TONIGHT
VS. PORTLAND
When: 7:30 PDT.
Where: Jeld-Wen Field, Portland.
On the air: TV: ESPN2; Radio: 1330.
Records: Galaxy 12-2-9; Portland 6-10-4.
Record vs. Portland: 1-0-0.
Update: In its first trip to face the expansion Portland Timbers, the Galaxy hopes to extend its 14-match unbeaten streak. The streak has carried the Galaxy to the top of the Western Conference standings, with a three-point lead over FC Dallas. A slip-up against the Timbers could erase that advantage. Forward Landon Donovan and midfielder David Beckham are expected to play. Donovan tallied two goals in a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, bringing his season total to 11, including the two goals he had against the Timbers in April. Beckham will return to the lineup after serving a one-game suspension based on his yellow card count.
