Case Keenum sets more records as Houston stays unbeaten, 37-7

at No. 11 Houston 37, Southern Methodist 7: Case Keenum set the Football Bowl Subdivision career record for completions, threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Cougars stayed unbeaten. Keenum completed 30 of 45 passes for 318 yards, a modest day for the nation’s leader in total offense and pass efficiency. He set the completions mark on his seventh throw, breaking the previous mark (1,403) set by Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell (2005-08). The Cougars’ sixth-year quarterback also joined Hawaii’s Tim Chang as the only quarterbacks to reach 4,000 yards passing in three seasons, and he tied Chang’s FBS record for career 300-yard passing games (36).

at No. 19 Texas Christian 34, Colorado State 10: Antoine Hicks, Ed Wesley and Matthew Tucker ran for touchdowns and Tank Carder returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown, helping the Horned Frogs earn at least a share of the Mountain West title. A bit flat early after its upset of Boise State, TCU (9-2, 6-0) got rolling in the third quarter on the way to handing the Rams (3-7, 1-4) a sixth consecutive loss.

at Air Force 45, Nevada Las Vegas 17: Asher Clark rushed for a career-high 169 yards, Wesley Cobb scored twice and the Falcons (6-5, 2-4 MWC) kept their bowl hopes alive. Quarterback Tim Jefferson looked sharp in his return from a concussion, rushing for 81 yards and throwing for 128. The Rebels (2-8, 1-4) have lost 15 in a row on the road.

at Wyoming 31, New Mexico 10: Brett Smith rushed for two touchdowns and threw for as the Cowboys (7-3, 4-1 MWC) became bowl eligible for the second time under third-year Coach Dave Christensen.

at San Jose State 27, Navy 24: Brandon Rutley rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and caught a career-high eight passes for another 101 yards as the Spartans (4-7) ended a three-game losing streak. Kriss Proctor rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Navy (4-7), which had its streak of eight straight years in a bowl game end.

Tulsa 57, at Texas El Paso 28: G.J. Kinne threw three touchdown passes as the Golden Hurricane piled up 500 total yards in breezing past the Miners. The victory set up Tulsa (8-3, 7-0 Conference USA) to meet Houston on Friday for a spot in the conference championship game. Kinne completed 19 of 25 passes for 283 yards and touchdowns to Trey Watts, Bryan Burnham and Jordan James.

Louisiana Tech 24, at Nevada 20: Colby Cameron passed for three fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Bulldogs rallied from a 20-3 deficit to stun the Wolf Pack.

at San Diego 23, Jacksonville 14: Kenny James rushed for 122 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Toreros (9-2) to a share of the Pioneer League title.

Division III playoffs: Mary Hardin-Baylor rushed for 336 yards and rolled to a 34-13 victory over Redlands (8-2) at Belton, Texas. The Cru (11-0) held the Bulldogs to two first downs in the first half while building a 24-0 lead. … Josh Hill ran for 146 yards and scored a touchdown on a reception to lead Linfield (10-0) to a 30-27 victory over Cal Lutheran (8-2) at McMinnville, Ore. Linfield handed Cal Lutheran its only other defeat in the season opener.
