Update: With three losses in four games the Galaxy is off to the worst start in franchise history. And in the most recent loss last week in Kansas City, the Galaxy didn’t even manage a shot on goal. The Timbers haven’t been much better, winning just once in five tries while matching the Galaxy by conceding a conference-high eight goals. But the Galaxy could get a boost if David Beckham returns to the midfield, as expected, after sitting out the Kansas City game with back spasms and a tight hamstring. Also in the fold is Brazilian defender David Junior Lopes, acquired Tuesday in a trade with Chivas USA to bolster the struggling backline. Midfielder Darlington Nagbe is off to a fast start for Portland with three goals in 10 shots, and in the Galaxy’s Josh Saunders he’ll be facing a keeper who has stopped just 11 of 18 shots on goal, the worst percentage in the Western Conference. Striker Robbie Keane has three of the Galaxy’s five scores.
