Receiver Mario Manningham of the San Francisco 49ers is out for the rest of the season after an MRI exam revealed torn ligaments in his left knee, ESPN.com reported.

Manningham suffered the injury in the third quarter of the 49ers’ 42-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. He was tackled low by linebacker Leroy Hill and fumbled.

Manningham has 42 catches for 449 yards and one touchdown.

Bengals acquire receiver on waivers

The Cincinnati Bengals acquired receiver Dane Sanzenbacher on waivers Tuesday from the Chicago Bears and put first-round draft pick Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve.

Sanzenbacher has one catch for seven yards in five games this season.

Kirkpatrick, the 17th overall selection in the 2012 draft, has been sidelined because of a knee injury. He played in five games this season.
