Friday at Power Balance Pavilion
Boys
Division IV
Los Angeles Price (26-8) vs. Richmond Salesian (33-2), 1:30 p.m.: There might not be a better game all weekend than this clash of athleticism and big-time talent. Price has 6-foot-8 San Diego State-bound Skylar Spencer and 6-7 Khalil Johnson, but its guard play will be crucial. Chris Martin, Chance Murray and Trey Dickerson have to avoid turnovers and make free throws. Salesian won its regional final by 31 points and features 6-5 junior Jabari Bird, who makes dunks look easy.
Other: Division II final, La Costa Canyon (34-2) vs. San Jose Archbishop Mitty (30-3), 8 p.m.
Girls
Division II
Riverside North (30-5) vs. San Jose Archbishop Mitty (27-5), 6 p.m.: What a turnaround in a year’s time for the Huskies and first-year Coach Leonard De Coud, reaching the state final after finishing 4-21 last season. North must try to keep 6-1 Priscilla Brooks out of foul trouble. Mitty is the team that eliminated Stockdale St. Mary’s. Sophomore Kelli Hayes is a rising college prospect and is coming off a 23-point performance in the regional final.
Other: Division IV, La Jolla Country Day (31-1) vs. Richmond Salesian (31-4), 3:30 p.m.
