La Liga champion Real Madrid, led by striker Cristiano Ronaldo, will visit the Home Depot Center on Aug. 2 to meet the defending Major League Soccer champion Galaxy in an international friendly.

The game is part of this summer’s World Football Challenge, an exhibition tournament matching top clubs from Europe with MLS teams. As part of the series Chelsea of the English Premier League will meet eight-time French Cup winner Paris Saint-Germain of France’s Ligue 1 on July 22 in the first-ever soccer match at the new Yankee Stadium.

Real Madrid, which reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League before losing to Bayern Munich on penalty kicks, clinched its first Spanish league title since 2008 with a win over Athletic Bilbao last week. The team is 31-2-4 this season but more impressively Real Madrid has scored 117 goals.
