The Clippers discuss their Game 4 loss to the Spurs [Video]

The Clippers were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday evening following a 102-99 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series.

Even though they were swept out of the postseason, many consider the team’s season a success, regularly selling out Staples Center, reenergizing their fanbase and making the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

Here’s a glimpse of what Coach Vinny Del Negro and the players had to say in their post-game interviews.

Chris Paul: “We had a good season. I think it’s a good sign for our team that there is no moral victory. It’s not like, oh we made it to the playoffs, it’s all good and well. We feel like we should have still been playing. We are going to keep working.

“I think coming into camp next year we are going to expect more, a lot more. It’s going to be a big summer for all of us. I need to get better. Everybody has to get better.”

Blake Griffin: “I need to improve in a lot of areas. Obviously everyone looks at offense, shooting the basketball, which is something I am going to work on. Also defensively, just studying the game and watching things and trying to improve in every area. There is tons of room for improvement.

Vinny Del Negro: “It’s never an easy thing to finish the season, but I am very proud of the guys. We had to handle a lot of adversity, brought in a lot of new players, and a lot of new faces. We had our ups and downs as the season went on, as did most teams, but I thought we battled through it.

“You have to give San Antonio credit. ... Statistically we did some good things, but we could not execute down the stretch and convert -- and they did. Their experience showed.

“We are not in the second round of the playoffs without Chris Paul. He gives you everything he has, all the time, he is as competitive as they come. I cannot say enough about everything he has brought to the team, the organization, to the city and the fans.

“We have to do a good job moving forward putting certain types of players in front of Chris and Blake. That is the next step. I think that will help ease some of the strain and some of the things [Paul] had to do to carry us at times, especially in the fourth quarter.”
