Beer vendors the big winner during NLCS Game 3 delay

The National League Championship Series Game 3 has resumed after a nearly 3 1/2-hour delay because of rain.

The St. Louis Cardinals were leading the San Francisco Giants, 3-1, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning when the game was halted. Play resumed at 7:06 p.m. Pacific time.

Left-handed reliever Javier Lopez entered the game for the Giants and recorded a groundout to close out the seventh inning.

While players and fans had to wait out the delay there was one big winner: beer vendors.

If a third out had been recorded before the rain forced play to be delayed, beer sales would have been cut off as per policy at every MLB stadium.

The best-of-seven series is tied, 1-1.
