USC basketball: Maurice Jones announces plans to transfer
Point guard Maurice Jones, the USC men’s basketball team’s leading returning scorer from last season, is looking to transfer from the school, he announced via his Twitter account Wednesday.
At 3:29 a.m., Jones tweeted “In a few hours I will be on my way home... I will be looking to transfer from USC smh” At 5:05 a.m., Jones tweeted “Goodbye LA...for now”
A person in the program confirmed that Jones’ intent is to transfer. The 5-foot-7 junior was going to sit out the 2012-13 season because he was academically ineligible but he was expected to return the following season. However, he appears to have changed his mind.
Jones could not be reached for comment. He averaged a team-high 13 points per game last season, when the Trojans finished 6-26.
