Inbee Park plans to rest after Women’s British Open

Inbee Park, you’ve failed to make history again, falling short of a fourth-consecutive major in women’s golf, so where do you go from here?

Not Disneyland, that’s for sure. How about back to South Korea, to blow off some steam by driving around in your Ferrari?

“Yeah,” Park said. “Sounds nice.”

The top-ranked golfer plans to take a few days off after a disappointing performance at the Women’s British Open this weekend, where she finished more than a dozen strokes behind winner Stacy Lewis. After capturing the U.S. Women’s Open, the Kraft Nabisco and the LPGA Championship this season, losing in a major felt strange.

So did all the stress that came with her hot streak, the golf world watching her every swing at St. Andrews.

“It is tough to be in the center of everything for a week,” she said on Sunday. “And I feel exhausted a little bit.”

Now that the women have added a fifth major, the Evian Masters, another opportunity lies ahead. Park still has a chance to go four-for-2013.

The pressure might not be as intense at the Evian next month. And the British has helped prepare her.

“I have done something like this already,” she said. “So, you know, I could do anything from now on.”
