Update: You want numbers? There are all sorts of numbers associated around the remarkable run of Kings rookie goalie Martin Jones, who is one victory from tying the NHL record for consecutive games won to start an NHL career. Bob Froese won his first eight games with the Flyers in the 1982-83 season. But the Elias Sports Bureau added a clarification: The NHL record for consecutive winning decisions to start an NHL career is held by Ray Emery. He won his first nine decisions with Ottawa, an accomplishment taking place over several seasons. Jones has a goals-against average of 0.85 and a save percentage of .971. There was significant breaking news for the Avalanche on Friday. Charges in a domestic violence case against starting goalie Semyon Varlamov were dropped. The Denver Post reported that Varlamov would speak about the matter after Saturday’s game against the Kings, according to the Avalanche.
