Is David Beckham’s son following dad to the Premier League?

David Beckham may not be returning to the English Premier League, but that doesn’t mean the league has seen the last of his family.

The former captain of the English national team, who retired from Major League Soccer following the Galaxy’s MLS Cup victory last month, has moved his family back to London where his 13-year-old son, Brooklyn, trained Tuesday with Chelsea’s youth academy players.

When the Beckhams lived in L.A., Brooklyn played in the Galaxy’s youth academy program.

Brooklyn’s presence with Chelsea means at least one member of the family is still playing soccer. The lad’s father famously insisted he wasn’t giving up the sport when he quit the Galaxy. But despite reports that he has received contract offers from around the world, David Beckham is still cooling his heels watching his kids play.

Clubs in China were among the latest to be linked to a Beckham bid. That follows rumors Beckham was being courted by English, Australian and French clubs as well. But with each passing day a return to the pitch seems less likely, considering Beckham will turn 38 in May.

Beckham dealt with several nagging injuries during his last two seasons with the Galaxy. And after taking more than seven weeks off, even healthy he would probably need six weeks to two months to regain the fitness to play top-level soccer.
