L.A. Sports Council names top 10 sports moments of the year
The Kings’ Stanley Cup victory was selected as the top sports moment of 2012 at the eighth annual L.A. Sports Awards on Sunday night. You can see the entire top 10 in the photo gallery above.
The L.A. Sports Awards are presented by the Los Angeles Sports Council to celebrate the greatest moments of the year in sports in the Los Angeles/Orange County area.
In other award presentations, Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was honored as sportsman of the year and beach volleyball Olympic gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings were named the sportswomen of the year. Darryl Sutter of the Kings was coach of the year and AEG President and Chief Executive Tim Leiweke was sports executive of the year.

Prime Ticket will televise the awards show at 9:30 p.m. on March 10.
An additional 14 awards were presented to each of the major local teams and universities recognizing each one’s greatest moment of 2012, as determined by online fan voting. The complete list of winners can be found on the Sports Council’s website, www.lasports.org.
