Clippers’ Caron Butler has strained left elbow; out for a week
The Clippers announced that Caron Butler has a strained left elbow and will be out “approximately a week.”
Butler got an MRI on Monday that revealed exactly what his injury was.
He was injured in the third quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons at Staples Center, which left the Clippers very concerned.
“Last night I wasn’t too optimistic when I saw him in the training room,” Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said after practice Monday. “He was in a lot of pain. But there wasn’t anything structural. He just has a strain, so we’ll give him some time off and reevaluate him. But they are telling us around a week.”
Del Negro said when they watched film of what happened to Butler, it showed that his arm came down and that he tried to lift it up when the injury occurred.
“He got so that he couldn’t straighten up because of spasms,” Del Negro said. “But he didn’t get hit or anything. It was just kind of like a guy was coming down on him when he went up and he got popped.”
