AT THE PLATE: Howie Kendrick had two hits, including a run-scoring single, to improve his spring average to .511 (23 for 45). Brendan Harris had two hits and two RBIs, and Mark Trumbo had two hits and an RBI. Josh Hamilton had an RBI single in a four-run third, and Albert Pujols doubled and scored on Trumbo’s single in the fifth.
ON THE MOUND: Reliever Sean Burnett had his second rocky outing in three spring appearances, giving up three runs and three hits, including Lonnie Chisenhall’s two-run homer to right, and retiring only one batter in the fourth. Ernesto Frieri gave up three hits in a scoreless fifth, and Nick Maronde threw a scoreless sixth.
EXTRA BASES: Shortstop Erick Aybar, who helped the Dominican Republic win the World Baseball Classic, and reliever Fernando Cabrera, who helped Puerto Rico reach the WBC final, will rejoin the Angels on Thursday. … Reliever Kevin Jepsen (tight triceps) threw off a mound Wednesday and should return to game action by the weekend.
