Update: Clippers forward Josh Smith said he didn’t blame Coach Doc Rivers for not playing him against Oklahoma City on Monday because the L.A. team was struggling and Rivers had other alternatives.

“There are so many guys that’s done so many productive things in this league up to this point,” Smith said. “Anybody who plays, you can’t argue with. You just have to be ready.”

Smith said he’s been working out at the Clippers’ practice facility at night to regain his spot in the rotation.

Blake Griffin practiced Thursday after sitting out the previous day to receive treatment on his left knee and is expected to play Friday, but the Clippers will be without reserve guard Austin Rivers (sprained right ankle) for a second consecutive game.

Lakers forward Julius Randle is probable with a sore ankle and forward Nick Young is expected to return from a stomach ailment.
