The Lakers made the call on Thursday, using their onetime amnesty to waive Metta World Peace.

Naturally the veteran forward took to Twitter with his usual sense of humor:

I’m playing for the LA Kings — Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) July 12, 2013

Maybe I’ll play for the Dodgers. But Magic has to give me his ownership or it is deal breaker. I will give him until the morning. — Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) July 12, 2013

World Peace has 48 hours from Thursday’s amnesty to clear waivers.

Teams with cap room can bid a minimum of $1.4 million to take on his contract. The amount of the winning bid would come off the $7.7 million the Lakers still owe World Peace.

According to HoopsWorld.com, 11 teams project to still be under the cap, including the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Bobcats, Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns.

If no claim is made, World Peace can sign with a team of his choice -- but not the Lakers.
