LeBron James trolls Golden State with an ‘Ultimate Warrior’ T-shirt

LeBron James emerged from a plane in Cleveland early Monday afternoon carrying an item he had promised the city almost two years ago – the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

More than 10,000 fans took great pleasure at the sight as they gathered at the IX Center next door to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to greet their newly crowned NBA champion Cavaliers.

Those fans also must have taken great delight in King James’ choice in T-shirts – one that read in huge letters “Ultimate Warrior.”

Officially, those words refer to the former WWF wrestler of the same name. But there's no doubt James’ selection of that particular garment was inspired by the nickname of the team the Cavaliers beat in a seven-game NBA Finals series to bring Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years.

James also made a statement with his choice of head wear, a hat featuring the Kermit the Frog sipping tea, also known as the “But that’s none of my business,” meme, which he later explained on Instagram.

James was named the series MVP Sunday night after a title-clinching 93-89 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.

Letting out what USA Today describes as a “victory cry for the ages,” James hoisted the trophy for the hometown crowd to see on Monday and kept it in his grasp throughout the celebration.

In other Cavaliers wardrobe news, J.R. Smith came out of the plane sans shirt, which was the same style he apparently rocked through much of the team’s victory party in Las Vegas in the early morning hours.

Monday’s airport celebration is only the prelude to the team’s official victory parade, scheduled for Wednesday.
