Angels score run in ninth to top Rangers, 2-1

ARLINGTON, Texas _ The Texas Rangers will have to wait another day to clinch the American League West title. The Los Angeles Angels scored a run in the ninth to beat the Rangers 2-1 Friday night at Globe Life Park. The teams turn around for Game 3 of the series at noon Saturday. The Rangers will clinch the division title with a win or an Astros loss late Friday at Arizona.tmpplchld ___tmpplchld Pitchingtmpplchld Martin Perez allowed a first-inning run but held the Angels scoreless on one hit over the next six innings. Perez retired 13 of the last 14 batters he faced. Perez allowed one run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts over seven innings.tmpplchld Sam Dyson retired the side in the eighth, including two strikeouts against Erick Aybar and Kole Calhoun. Shawn Tolleson started the ninth with the scored tied at 1-1 and promptly surrendered a leadoff triple to Mike Trout. Texas had two on with one out thanks to two Erick Aybar errors in the fifth but Chris Gimenez struck out and Delino DeShields flew out to end the inning. In the sixth, Choo led off with a double and Adrian Beltre walked with one out. Mitch Moreland grounded into a force out at second to give Texas runners on the corners with two outs and Josh Hamilton at the plate. The Rangers were retired in order in the ninth.
