Update: If Vancouver, currently hanging on to the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, misses the postseason, it can blame Chivas USA. Heading into the teams’ third and final meeting of the season, Vancouver is one of only two teams in the conference that has yet to beat Chivas, losing last month and playing to a draw in March. This time Chivas is riding a season-long four-game losing streak in which it has been outscored 9-1, falling to last in the conference standings. But then Chivas has been playing without regular center backs Carlos Bocanegra (concussion) and Bobby Burling (meniscus), who are likely to sit out Saturday as well. Forward Erick Torres, tied for second in the league with 14 goals, hasn’t scored in three games, matching his longest dry spell of the season.
