Update: After a three-week break for the World Cup, the Galaxy returns to Major League Soccer play against longtime rival San Jose in what’s dubbed the “California Clasico” series. This is the first of three matches between the clubs this season. The Galaxy is coming off a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA on June 8 but is undefeated in its last four games. The Earthquakes most recently lost to Toronto FC, 1-0. The Galaxy and San Jose are seventh and eighth, respectively, in the MLS Western Conference, outside the top five spots in the standings needed to secure a playoff berth.
