Report: Casey Affleck will star in film about Boston Marathon bombing
The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing will serve as the basis for a movie now in the works from actor Casey Affleck.
The planned film will be based on a book “Boston Strong,” that chronicles the manhunt for the alleged bombers, according to a report in Variety.
Affleck is co-producing and working with screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, who were responsible for “The Fighter.”
The Massachusetts native and his brother, Ben, reportedly went to the same high school as Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the brothers suspected of carrying out the bombing.
Affleck has appeared in a number of films set in his home state, including “Good Will Hunting” and “Gone Baby Gone,” which told the story of two Boston detectives investigating a girl’s kidnapping.
His new project will also examine the city’s reaction to the bombings.
