Buffalo Jills will suspend operations in wake of lawsuit
In response to a lawsuit by five former members, Stejon Productions, the company that manages the Buffalo Jills, the cheerleaders for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, announced the Jills will suspend operations for the 2014 season.
On Wednesday, five former Jills filed a lawsuit complaining they worked hundreds of hours with no pay and were subjected to groping and sexual comments.
Stephanie Mateczun, the president and owner of Stejon Productions, is in the process of hiring legal representation and declined further comment. The Bills also declined to comment.
Lawyer Frank Dolce, who represents the five cheerleaders, said the decision to suspend operations won’t affect his case.
“If they cease operations, they will blame the lawsuit for the destruction of the Jills, when that was not intended at all,” Dolce told the Associated Press. “We love the Bills. We love the Jills. We do not love the travesty of its management that has occurred over the last few years.”
