Blake Griffin didn’t even look at the stat sheet following the Clippers’ 121-104 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

“Effort-wise, I need to do a much better job,” Griffin said.

In Wednesday’s game, Griffin finished with 14 points and only one rebound, which he didn’t even get until the third quarter. He also finished with only one free throw attempt, which he missed.

“I don’t think I should ever go through a game where I shoot only one free throw, and it has nothing to do with the officiating,” Griffin said. “It has to do with me personally attacking them and being more responsible in that area.”

Instead of pounding the paint, Griffin has been focusing on his jump shot, something he practiced all summer. Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said that needs to change.

“When you work on something all summer, you tend to want to do it,” Rivers said. “It’s tough because you sometimes get away from what you’re really good at. The fact that he’s now good at both of them, he’ll figure out that balance, and I have no doubt about that.”

So far in the season, Griffin is shooting a career-high 66.7% from beyond the three-point line, compared to 27.3% last year. But on the flipside, because he’s concentrating more on his outside shot, his field goal percentage has dropped from 52.8% last year to 49.5% this season.

Rivers thinks he needs to reprioritize his game to return to being to being a dominant inside force who draws fouls.

“I don’t like the balance right now, the ratio,” Rivers said of Griffin’s game. “Is it the No. 1 thing on my mind? It’s not. I just think the great ones always figure out how to get back to that right balance -- it might be tomorrow, it might be in a week, but I guarantee you he’ll figure that balance out.”
