Colts’ Erik Walden allegedly slashed with knife by ex-girlfriend

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Erik Walden and a female friend are recoving from knife injuries and a broken arm after the NFL player’s ex-girlfriend allegedly attacked the pair last Saturday, according to multiple reports.

Walden and his companion returned from dinner to his home in Braselton, Ga., northeast of Atlanta last weekend to find Erica Palmer, who has two childen with Walden, allegedly waiting for them in the house with a gun he kept there and a baseball bat, according to WXIA-TV.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pound linebacker told police he took the gun away from Palmer, but that she was able to swing the bat, striking the other woman and breaking her arm, before escaping, the NBC affiliate said.

After they gave their statements to police and the officers left, as Walden was pulling out of his driveway to take the injured woman to the hospital, Palmer returned and allegedly slashed his arm with a knife, according to the report.

Police were able to locate Palmer at a local hotel by tracking her cellphone calls. She was taken to the Hall County Jail and faces multiple charges of aggravated assault and burglary.

Walden, an eight-year pro, played in 15 games for the Colts last season. He had 25 tackles and one forced fumble for the AFC South champions.
