Ohio State, ex-president Gordon Gee agree on retirement package
It has been reported that former Ohio State president Gordon Gee has agreed to a $5.8-million retirement package.
Gee, it seemed, spent more time pulling his foot out his mouth in recent years than contributing anything significant to the university.
Gee, 69, retired on July 1 not long after disparaging remarks about Catholics and, maybe worse, the Southeastern Conference.
This is the same Gee who once took a pot shot at “The Little Sisters of the Poor” and claimed there would be a playoff in college football over his dead body (the playoff begins in 2014).
Gee also defended Jim Tressel, his beleaguered former football coach, saying he hoped the coach wouldn’t fire him. Tressel soon resigned under pressure after acknowledging he lied to the NCAA.
Gee’s five-year deal with Ohio State includes a one-time payment of $1.5 million and an annual salary of $410,000.
