Greg Oden accused of breaking ex-girlfriend’s nose during assault
NBA player Greg Oden, arrested last week in Indianapolis on suspicion of beating up his former girlfriend, punched her in the face three times and broke her nose, according to court documents obtained by the Indianapolis Star.
Oden was charged Monday with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and domestic battery and faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
According to the court documents, police were called to the home of Oden’s mother and found Christina Green lying on a couch with blood on her face and a cut and swollen nose. Green said she fell, but a friend said that Oden had punched her, the documents said. Green would not answer questions about what happened.
Oden is quoted in the court documents as saying: “Things got out of control, and I started to go after Christina. My mother and Toni tried to hold me back, but I swung my arms to move them out of the way and then punched Christina in the face. I was wrong, and I know what has to happen.”
Oden’s first court appearance on the matter is scheduled for Wednesday.
