Top wrestlers to compete at Forum
For the second year in a row, the top-ranked wrestlers in the world will gather in Southern California for an international dual meet.
Teams from Cuba, Iran, Russia, Turkey, Mongolia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and the U.S. are scheduled to compete in the 2015 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup at the Forum on Saturday and Sunday.
“It is an important event for us,” U.S. Coach Bruce Burnett said. “We have the top teams in the world here on our soil.”
Last year, Iran won the team title with Russia taking second and the U.S. finishing third.
Burnett said he plans to include Olympic gold medalists Jake Varner and Jordan Burroughs and two-time world medalist Tervel Dlagnev on his squad.
The world championships are scheduled for Las Vegas in September.
