USC star receiver Marqise Lee sustained an apparent shoulder injury during practice Friday.
Lee, a Biletnikoff Award winner as the best receiver in college football, was hurt about midway through the workout when he caught a long pass from quarterback Cody Kessler and landed on his right shoulder after making contact with a defender.
Team trainers attended to Lee on the field and then escorted him from the facility through a gate to the adjoining baseball stadium.
Lee was shirtless and had his right arm in a sling, according to witnesses near the baseball field, when he was transported by golf cart from the area.
Coach Lane Kiffin said he did not have an immediate update on Lee’s condition.
USC opens its season Aug. 29 at Hawaii.
