USC inched closer to a commitment from Long Beach Poly High’s top recruit in the 2016 class on Friday.

Defensive back Jack Jones announced via Twitter that Alabama, Texas A&M and USC were the final three schools in his recruitment, eliminating Oklahoma and UCLA.

If Jones, 5-feet-11 and 175 pounds, ends up at USC, he would make it three years running that the Trojans landed the best player from Poly. Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster signed with USC in 2014 and defensive back Iman Marshall followed in 2015.

Jones is expected to make his decision on signing day, Feb. 3.

C.J. Pollard from Gardena Serra is the lone defensive back committed to USC’s 2016 class. He has enrolled in spring semester courses and will participate in spring practice.
