USC interim Coach Clay Helton said Thursday he was uncertain if receivers Darreus Rogers and Steven Mitchell Jr. would return to the lineup Saturday against California.

Rogers has been nursing a hamstring injury that he aggravated against Notre Dame. He did not play against Utah.

“He had a full practice yesterday, and we didn’t go full speed with him today,” Helton said.

Mitchell has been sidelined the last two games because of an ankle injury.

“Steven is getting close but he told me he was about 85 percent today.” Helton said. “We’ll see where that is two days from now.”

Tight end Taylor McNamara, who suffered a shoulder injury against Utah, is expected to play, and the status of Tyler Petite, who has a foot injury, will be a game-time decision.
