USC tailback Javorius Allen was selected as one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the top player in college football.

Allen, a junior, has rushed for 1,124 yards and eight touchdowns for the Trojans, who have an open date this week.

Allen rushed for 114 yards in 19 carries in last week’s 44-17 victory over Washington State.

It was the sixth consecutive game that Allen eclipsed 100 yards, becoming the first USC player since Marcus Allen in 1981 to rush for more that 100 yards in six consecutive games.

Allen has rushed for more than 100 yards in every game but one this season. He was limited to 31 yards in 15 carries against Boston College.

Three finalists will be announced Nov. 24, the winner Dec. 11.

The Trojans’ next game is Nov. 13 against California.
