Freshman lineman Viane Talamaivao becoming more comfortable

Viane Talamaivao did not have much time to adjust to college football.
USC’s freshman offensive lineman played extensively at guard in the Trojans’ first two games and started at the spot in the Sept. 13 loss at Boston College.
“I’m getting more comfortable, but I still have a long way to go,” Talamaivao said.
The 6-foot-3, 330-pound Talamaivao, who graduated from Corona Centennial High, and fellow freshmen Toa Lobendahn and Damien Mama have started for the Trojans, who play Oregon State on Saturday at the Coliseum.
USC is hoping to rebound from its Sept. 13 loss at Boston College.
After giving up five sacks in the 37-31 defeat, the line worked to improve during the bye week.
“Cleaning up the little things,” Talamaivao said, “and just really working out some of the mistakes we had in the Boston College game.”
